There are many reasons why clients come to me to request the manufacture of a specific item of bespoke furniture. Usually, it’s to bring a touch of their own personal style to a room, or because they cannot find an “off the shelf” piece that exactly suits their taste or purpose, or perhaps their home has a unique layout that means they need furniture designed to fit specific dimensions.
I am also sometimes asked to create a reproduction of an old piece of furniture which has become lost or too damaged to restore.
Whatever the reason, I am always pleased to work with you to make sure we come up with a custom made piece of furniture that perfectly fills your brief in all respects.
I make a wide variety of made-to-measure furniture, free-standing or built in, of all shapes and sizes in my workshop in Wells, Somerset, for delivery to your home – and installation if required.

A bespoke furniture commission begins with a consultation during which I will discover exactly what you have in mind for your unique piece – both pertaining to it’s form and function. You are welcome to bring me example photographs or drawings to illustrate your ideas.
I’ll make a detailed design based on our consultation which we can tweak until you’re happy, and we’ll also discuss all the essentials like the type of wood and other materials required, and the finish.
Once the project proposal is approved I begin the construction and crafting of the customised item, the time required dependent on the complexity and size of the piece.
I have both joinery skills and detailing capabilities like woodturning and carving so I am able to create artistically embellished pieces as well as produce sturdy furniture that will stand the test of time.
Whether you want personalised furniture that is minimalist or ornate, contemporary, period or antique reproduction, large or small, built in or free-standing, for any room in your home I can deliver what you want to exacting standards.
I also take on large on-site commissions for bespoke furniture and fittings such as constructing bespoke wood staircases, hospitality bar counters, ecclesiastical furniture, high-end office shelving or even board room tables by arrangement. Just call me for a chat about your project.
